At the WSIS+20 Forum of 2024, held in Geneva from May 27 to 31, ELA-IA presented "Ethical and Social Challenges in the Algorithmic Fabric - An Anthropological Perspective" within the action line Ethical Dimensions of the Information Society.
The presentation highlighted the importance of viewing technology as "a set of social behaviors and a system of meanings." In this context, conceptual proposals were presented to contribute to and advance the path of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals by considering the ethical development of technology.
This page aims to continue the conversation and form working groups of interested stakeholders to help us develop each of these proposals. Click below on the proposals of your interest and join us in the mission of weaving ethics and responsibility into the AI era.
The main goal of this proposal is to create a certification process that can evaluate and measure the ethical and social impacts of AI systems.
The objective is to reduce information and vocabulary asymmetry between engineers, designers, and end users.
The Quality Seal will serve as a guiding tool at each stage of an algorithm's life cycle, such as during development, design, deployment, and operation. These stages will address different actors involved in the algorithmic fabric.
Our organization has dedicated projects for each aspect of implementing the Quality Seal. We are ready to provide guidance and assistance to international organizations, public and private entities, and policymakers in implementing this process. We propose the formation of a global coalition to put this measure into action and steer AI systems towards promoting the common good. We invite others to join us in this endeavor.
